well controlled as a result of new and more effective therapies. Patients
are surviving longer and presents to dental offices with oral health care
needs similar to non-HIV infected patients. However, the medical complexity
associated with HIV infection necessitate an understanding of the disease
progress, and available medical therapeutic interventions and their
associated co-morbidities in order to provide safe and appropriate oral
health care.
This presentation will address the dentist’s role in the
overall health and well being of the HIV infected patient. |
