| HRSA/HAB has just released the Guide for
HIV/AIDS Clinical Care, an updated resource for clinicians to use in
delivering HIV/AIDS care. The Guide covers 93 topics in 610 pages and
provides guidance on a broad range of clinical care topics, including
testing and assessment, health care maintenance and disease prevention,
comorbidities, oral health, HIV treatment and more. The Guide complements
Federal HIV/AIDS guidelines through presentation of information on best
practices in clinical management of HIV/AIDS disease.
The Guide was developed under contract by the AIDS
Education and Training Center (AETC), National Resource Center, located at
the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, working with a panel
of experts including leading HIV/AIDS clinicians from HRSA/HAB and the AETC
network. It was first published in 1993 and updated in 2006, with the 2011
version featuring new chapters on clinic management, quality improvement,
HIV care in correctional settings, and other topics.
The Guide can be ordered from the HRSA Information Center
at 888.ASK.HRSA or by ordering
online.
The Web-based version will be posted on the
HRSA/HAB Web site
in the coming weeks.
HRSA is also working on additional HIV/AIDS clinical tools
including the updating of protocols on women’s care and the recently
released new protocol, A Guide for Evaluation and Treatment of Hepatitis C
in Adults Coinfected with HIV.
